The Cabo Verde Music Awards (CVMA) revealed, in Lisbon, the nominees for the 14th edition of the event, with rapper Hélio Batalha leading the list with a total of five nominations.
Hélio Batalha is nominated in the categories of Song of the Year and Hip-Hop of the Year with the track “Só Deus”, in collaboration with Paulinha. The same song also earned him nominations for Collaboration of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
Additionally, he is competing for Popular Music of the Year with “Sima Nós Ka Tem”, reinforcing his versatility and artistic impact.
The 2025 CVMA ceremony promises to be one of the highlights of Cape Verdean music, featuring major names in the spotlight.
In the Album of the Year category, the nominees are Dynamo with “Blindado”, Nancy Vieira with “Gente”, and Nelson Freitas with “Black Butterfly”.
For Song of the Year, the contenders are Cesf x Kady (“Distancia”), Dieg (“Aldina”), Djodje (“Tentason”), and Hélio Batalha x Paulinha (“Só Deus”).
Among the Female Performers, Elida Almeida, ÉLLÀH, Lucibela, and Nancy Vieira are the favorites, while Cesf, Dieg, Djodje, and Fábio Ramos compete for Male Performer of the Year.
Other standout artists include Nancy Vieira, with three nominations, and Dynamo, also with three.
A wide diversity of musical styles is once again celebrated, with categories ranging from funaná to afrobeat, including morna, coladeira, and kizomba.
The winners will be announced during the official CVMA ceremony scheduled for June 7.
