Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva highlighted last night, following the opening of another edition of AME in Praia, the importance of measuring the impact of major events such as the Atlantic Music Expo — not only in economic terms but also in the international projection of the country.
According to Ulisses Correia e Silva, AME, along with the Kriol Jazz Festival, is one of the largest and most significant cultural and musical events in the country, held in the city of Praia. These events have had a strong impact on both the economy and the international visibility of the archipelago, hence the need to measure these effects.
“They told me that an impact study will be carried out. Because the hotels are full, the restaurants and entertainment venues are bustling. This means economy. And then, people move around, they spend. And more: it’s the external projection of Cabo Verde’s image,” he explained.
“It’s yet another major cultural and musical event. AME is the biggest event in Cabo Verde’s music industry. I hope it will be as successful as always, with strong participation, lots of music, conferences, and workshops,” he said, emphasizing the event’s role as a visibility platform for national artists, both emerging and established.
The presence of international media was also highlighted by Ulisses Correia e Silva as one of the event’s main strengths.
In addition to the speeches, the opening of AME 2025 was marked by performances from young talents and a surprise appearance by singer Dino d’Santiago.
The Atlantic Music Expo (AME) 2025, “the largest transatlantic music fair,” takes place from April 7 to 10 in the capital city.
For its 11th edition, 23 artists were selected.
The national artists are: Ary Kueka, Dieg, Fábio Ramos, Zuleika, Queency Barbosa, Yacine Rosa, Leroy Pinto, CJ Patronato, Tereza Fernandes, and Eliana Rosa.
On the international stage, AME 2025 will feature performances by renowned artists from different parts of the world, including Isabel Novela (Mozambique), Maria Siga (Senegal), Roberta Campos (Brazil), Rumba de Bodas (Italy), Sahad (Senegal), Tasuta N’Iman (Morocco), Throes & The Shine (Angola/Portugal), Karyna Gomes (Guinea-Bissau), Raquel (Spain), and Fattu Djakité (Guinea-Bissau).
The event will also include performances by DJ Streladuh, DJ Muleki, and DJ Oleg.
