Four years after the release of the song Miçanga, by the Bahian duo Antônio Carlos & Jocafi, the group BaianaSystem renewed the single. To start the year 2024 on the right foot, the collective, composed of Russo Passapusso (vocalist), Roberto Barreto (guitarist) and Marcelo Seko (bassist), released two remixes of Miçanga. With guest appearances by Guinean singer Patche Di Rima and DJ and producer from São Paulo Carolina Ribeiro (Brazook), BaianaSystem's proposal is to celebrate the ancestry of Brazilian music and its possibilities.

The singer from Guinea-Bissau, who participated in the BaianaSystem show in the last edition of Afropunk - Salvador in 2023, has already worked with the collective on other projects. The group's guitarist, Roberto Barreto, talks in promotional material about the remix and the connection with the Guinean. "The arrival of Patche Di Rima in Salvador immediately brought a very strong cultural connection. The musical exchange happened naturally, and Miçanga appeared as a symbolism to connect the two cultures”, he states.

“The track Miçanga was called back to unite the idea we have with the images and meanings it has in Guinea-Bissau. Patche lit this back up with his musical sensitivity and moved everything as part of the same place, contained within this immensity that is the diaspora", adds Roberto.

The other version of the Bahian single was produced by DJ Brazook, who began her career in 2017 and has collaborated with great artists such as MC Tha and Pabllo Vittar. The São Paulo native explains, in promotional material, where the idea for the remix came from and the elements that made up the track. "In addition to the clear reconstruction of an ijexá, I was inspired by polyphonic ringtones (yes, those on cell phones!) to show this song in a more incidental way, as if it were in a dream or a scene from a soap opera. I was at home, the pandemic was starting to take hold. peak, missing the sea and not being afraid of people", reflects the DJ.

Miçanga's two new productions, by BaianaSystem, are now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Pandora and Youtube (only Miçanga — Brazook Remix).
