The National Radio of Angola – RNA received, this Thursday, a visit from the European Union adviser for the PALOP group and Timor-Leste, Ana Gomes.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress and the results already achieved by the MARIMBA Project, an initiative aimed at preserving Angola’s musical heritage.
Ana Gomes was welcomed by the Director of Exchange and Institutional Relations of RNA, José Casimiro, who emphasized the importance of the ongoing partnership between the institution and the European Union.
During the visit, Ana Gomes explored the heart of the project: the RNA Discotheque, where state-of-the-art technical equipment donated by the European Union is housed. This equipment is currently being used to digitize the entire musical collection preserved by the institution.
The MARIMBA Project, funded by the European Union, represents a significant investment in safeguarding Angola’s cultural history. The technological modernization of the RNA Discotheque not only protects a unique collection but also facilitates access for researchers and the general public, ensuring that the country’s musical memory remains alive for the future.
