STARTUPS COMPETITION TO BOOST FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Young women between 18 and 30 years old signed up for the Marimba – Startup competition;
The candidates had nationality and residence in Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau and/or Timor-Leste;
Innovative projects with viability and growth potential were recognized.

On the 8th of March, the Marimba project launched the Marimba – Startup competition, in the area of ​​creative industries aimed at young women between 18 and 30 years of age, nationalities and residents of Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau and Timor- East.

Several innovative projects competed for Marimba–Startup, individually or in groups, with a view to creating companies with viability and growth potential, and the following winners were selected:
Angola:
- Fernanda Isama Lopes (Cultural Tourism Project)
- Vânia Solange Quilo (Sorriso Chana Project, Cultural Events)

Mozambique:
- Carla da Rosa David Seleça (Crirate Project for fashion accessories with African motifs)
- Isália Justino Cardoso (APOLÍNEO Project - Design and artisanal fashion and Training Studio)

East Timor:
- Adelina Teresa Pereira Jerónimo (FURAK Project - studio and art gallery (craft production)
- Dulcia Maria Tilman (Obrarte Project - Creative Arts, online store with artistic, literary and musical products, highlighting the cultural richness of Timor-Leste)

The initiative aimed to increase qualified, creative and open-to-the-world entrepreneurship, promoting innovative responses to current challenges, training young entrepreneurs for new business trends on a global scale, resulting in the creation of sustainable employment and the generation of their own sources of income. .

On the other hand, the competition aims to support women in achieving their entrepreneurial goals, promoting personal, professional and economic growth, as well as contributing, through businesses led by women, to the economic and social development of communities, generating jobs and promoting gender equality.

The course is expected to encourage the creation of opportunities for participants to build contact networks, establish partnerships and share experiences with other entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector.
