This training was given in Angola at CEARTE, Mozambique at ECA, Guinea Bissau at Netos do Bandim and in East Timor at CAMSTL.

About this training

Marimba: Training in the music field in Angola, Mozambique, Guine Bissau and East Timor.

Marimba runs a training project created in conjunction with the Camões Institute and which aims to provide trainees with skills in the field of music.

  • The Marimba is supported by PROCULTURA, part of the PALOP–TL and EU program, financed by the European Union, co-financed and ran by Camões I.P., which works towards the promotion of employment and income generating activities on the cultural sector of the PALOP and East Timor.
  • The Marimba project aims to value musical production in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and East Timor, through its research, digitalization, promotion and international distribution, contributing to the rescue of cultural identity, to its dissemination and to the strengthening, inclusion and sustainability of the sector's agents.
  • In this context, an ambitious training program will start this November in Angola, at CEARTE.

The training will be developed in modules that aim to equip trainees with tools that will enable them not only to record, digitalize, and archive this heritage, but also to preserve and disseminate it to future generations.

In the same way, another important part of the training will be to provide trainees with technical knowledge in music creation and poetic expression, as well as to offer them relevant information about the functioning of the music industry in order to potentiate the creation of new jobs.

The training program is made up of six modules, for a total of 230 hours of theoretical and practical training:

  1. Outdoor audio recording techniques
  2. Digitization, re-recording and mastering process
  3. Classification and archival content for central archives and their management
  4. Creative writing and editing
  5. Marimba platform management and digital Marketing
  6. Ecosystem Organization and Value Chain of the Music and Entertainment Industry
